The Guild Wars community did NOT want Hero Battles removed
Yes if you ask around quite a few people will say Hero Battles was dead and we needed somthing new...but think of the THOUSANDS of people who played and enjoyed hero battles. We didnt want it removed. Especially to be replaced with Codex Arean. Please bring it back OR make a Sealed Deck Hero Battles, this would balance PvP as we would have a Sealed deck version of TA and HB.
Please Discuss.

Oh sweet, another one of these threads.
It was broken. Regardless of whether you enjoyed it or not, it had to be replaced. I may enjoy driving my car around with flat tires, but I doubt the Police are going to allow that to go on for very long.
Get it?

While many players competed fairly in HB, it was too open to cheating. I am sure that ArenaNet regrets depriving honest players of a format they enjoyed, but there is no way to repair a competition that so many players prefer to abuse.
Changing the skill format (Sealed Deck) would not change how HB is played.

Band-aid after band-aid were never going to make it work. It had to be pulled out by the root and replaced.
"The Guild Wars community" seems pretty happy about this update.

Yes... yes the community does want it removed.
You don't want it removed. YOU are not "the community." If you actually cared about HB, you would have been making posts about this 2 months ago when it was first announced. Instead, you are making knee jerk reactions. If the community honestly cared about HB... there would have been more of an uproar to stop this from happening in the first place.

hb was hopelessly broken. Any pvp title that allowed you to reap massive rewards without ever, you know, actually pvping, has no hope of being fixed. RIP hb.

HB was one of the more creative forms of PvP, albit crossing was screwed and teleports ruled the meta.
Sealed deck is TA over again.

OP is little too late.
You should have said something (together with all the others) in all the threads that popped up 2 months ago, right after ANet announced the deletion.
Quite a number of threads were created.
HB / TA is gone, so roll with the tide and play Codex, or do something else (or not).

@OP
i personally like HB disliked TA, the truth is it was a format that exploited Hero AI, the community in general did not like, the 50 people that did like it (that's not an official number), did not justify the server space that was required to run HB and TA.
even though i might agree with you personally, you speak for yourself, not the gw community.
PS. actually based on what i saw the last couple of weeks, you could say the only thing the community liked about HB was RR day, sorry, but it's the truth.

HB was broken, unbalanced, and OVERTLY abused. it deserved to be removed whether or not 10 people wanted to keep it or everyone wanted to keep it.

i agree with OP putting the red resign stuff aside its actually fun!
i am very new to HB and initially when i tried it out i didn't like it due to the whole shrine capping crap where lamers start running the moment i run to a shrine. But when i got to learn a little bit more abt it it was very interesting when u consider the quick strat u have to apply when u realise ur opponents build. Sometimes i won by 1 or 2 points even if my build was inferior to my opponent 4/4 killing wise, sometimes i lost even if my build was superior cos of shrine running cap, but its really fun! especially when u kill the cappers and quickly thought of a strat to kill rest and gain upperhand on shrine stuff!
and for the record ppl shld stop blaming the meta crap. If others run the meta crap u can too so its down to a player quick thinking strat to win/lose a game

You mean farmed the title by resigning as red and made 1000 zkeys that way.

A very small percentage (and I mean very small) did not want HB removed. The vast majority did, and are very pleased that it's gone. Maybe you didn't want it removed, but the majority did.
